How to use this page
- Start with the category that best matches your immediate need.
- Use national organizations for broad guidance and local agencies for nearby services.
- For product decisions, compare related reviews and buying guides on AgingWell.
- Always confirm eligibility, hours, and service details directly with the organization.
How to use Prescription Drug Programs
- Check nonprofit programs first. If you or your loved one is on a fixed income or uninsured, Rx Outreach and Medicare Extra Help should be your starting point.
- Use NeedyMeds or BenefitsCheckUp to search multiple programs at once. These tools do the legwork โ one search can surface dozens of programs you may qualify for.
- Keep a discount card as a backup. Even if you have insurance, GoodRx or SingleCare often beats your copay for common generics. Show the card at the pharmacy counter.
- Ask your doctor’s office. Many practices have a social worker or patient advocate on staff who knows which programs apply to your specific medications and income level.
